Love, Sex, and Romance - Everybody Does It
Valentine’s Day typically inspires thoughts of pink roses, heart shaped boxes of chocolate, and last minute runs to the store for greeting cards. But flowers and candy reveal a very small view of what people really think about love. “Everybody Does It” will be an evening of live music, burlesque dancers, and sensuous food and activities to celebrate the many shapes, sizes, and fetishes of love, sex, and romance.

darkroom
2210 W. Chicago Ave.

This 21 and over event will take place on Thursday, February 10, 2005 7pm-10pm at darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave.) Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served. Tickets are $20 in advance or $15 at the door. All proceeds benefit the Guild Complex – a nonprofit cultural center that facilitates cross-cultural dialogue and promotes Chicago writers through literary readings, performance, and workshops.

The beautiful dancers of Eve’s Parlor will be featured during the evening. Displaying their unique fashion and passion, they have been seen on stages from Around the Coyote to the Oz Fest Tour. They will be accompanied by burlesque music from the Slingerland Ride and the Thin Man.

Our beautiful waiters and waitresses will serve aphrodisiacs and love potions including chocolate covered strawberries, Eli’s cheesecake, and frushi from Orange. In our intimate erotic photo booth, guests can explore romantic fantasies or sneak a quick kiss on camera.

For those too shy to approach the cutie on the other side of the room or those who want to surprise their partner, Cupid will be there to help you out. He’ll deliver Valentine’s and gifts to those you love or those you’d like to know better.

Our silent auction will feature prizes to cultivate your love for your partner, for yourself, and for the arts. Among the many prizes are romantic getaways, private yoga lessons, and a one-on-one writing workshop with Reginald Gibbons, English professor at Northwestern University, former editor for TriQuarterly and winner of the 2004 O.B. Hardison, Jr. Poetry Prize for the Best Book of Poetry.
