Psychadelic Jazz: The Willie Waldman Project
darkroom, located at 2210 W. Chicago, along with Fathom DJ, will be hosting a premiere Psychadelic Jazz performance on Saturday April 16th, 2005. Doors open at 9pm and the show starts at 10pm; there is a $10 cover charge at the door. Tickets are available in advance at www.darkroombar.com.
The name might not strike an immediate chord but Willie Waldman is one you’ll find in the liner notes of great artists and groups such as Banyan, Rob Wasserman, Perry Farrell and the late Tupac Shakur. While the list goes on, there’s much more to this trumpet players credit than simply recording as a sideman on many of today’s contemporary artists albums.
The 2005 Tour features an amazing line up of talented musicians who Waldman has worked with throughout the years: Terry Saffold who has played drums for Isaac Hayes, Rufus Thomas, and Albert King; Ross Rice keyboardist for Banyan, and Peter Frampton; Bassist JD Westmoreland whose credits include North Mississippi All-Stars and Jim Dickenson; and from Europe, fusion jazz legend Craig Erickson.
A testament to his style, experience and roots, Willie Waldman will be the “next big name” years and bios apart from today’s first project and you’ll still see his name on credits everywhere.
