Around The Coyote Prom
Prom: It's a unique cultural event in the American psyche that affects people - even the ones who didn't go - long after the last slow dance has ended. Only high-school myopia would make kids think it's going to be the best night of their lives, but the Around The Coyote Prom celebrates that myopia by reliving it.
DJ Jim Dorling will spin '70s and '80s hits, spiked punch and hors d'oeuvres will be served, and there will be a mixed media art show, Macerate. Goofy prom outfits are encouraged.
Head over to Vintage Wine Bar (1942 W. Division) the night before for the Pre-Prom Party from 7 - 11 p.m. and enjoy a very special wine tasting.

Andrew Bird Record Release Show!
Chicago Record Release & Live Show @ The Metro
for "The Mysterious Production of Eggs"
Advance tickets available at Hi Fi Records for no surcharge.
w/ Archer Prewitt and Clyde Federal
"As one of the most talented artists of this generation...
This show cannot be missed." - HoneyWired
Mr. Bird releases his first studio album in nearly two years, The Mysterious Production of Eggs, on Righteous Babe Records in the US and Fargo records in Europe. The album follows Weather Systems, his mini-LP, released in 2002 / 2003.
The recording sessions for Eggs saw Bird scrap the album three times and travel between studios in Chicago, Los Angeles and his own home studio on a farm in Northern Illinois. The album took final shape with the production help of David Boucher whose credits include Randy Newman and Paul Westerberg.
The record deals with nothing less than the mysteries of childhood, creativity and modern science - epic in scope and minute in detail. It is accompanied by artwork and illustrations for every song by accomplished Chicago based artist Jay Ryan. Equally unusual is Bird’s solo live show at which, with the aid of a sampling pedal, the songwriter takes his often dense, orchestrated recordings and rewrites them anew each night, adding layers of fiddle, electric guitar, and glockenspiel to his vocals and whistling. Bird has toured extensively over the past year throughout the US and Europe with kindred spirits the Magnetic Fields, My Morning Jacket, Lambchop and Ani DiFranco.
Click here for a Q&A session with Mr. Bird about the new album.

Love, Sex, and Romance - Everybody Does It
Valentine’s Day typically inspires thoughts of pink roses, heart shaped boxes of chocolate, and last minute runs to the store for greeting cards. But flowers and candy reveal a very small view of what people really think about love. “Everybody Does It” will be an evening of live music, burlesque dancers, and sensuous food and activities to celebrate the many shapes, sizes, and fetishes of love, sex, and romance.
