Super Happy Funtime Techno Rave Dance Party
Tonight is Chapter II of Super Happy Funtime Techno Rave Dance Party, a little weekly we're putting on every Thursday this month.
This week we're partnering up with MF Chicago. They'll be showing up in force, with Baseshot Scenario, RSB1000, the Abominable Twitch, Chip Chop, and B Mini all getting in on it, and our friend Dominic will be making a return appearance on the viola, hitting the stage as part of BiFocal.
In addition to all that, MFChicago will be toting out its VJ gear, so there will be plenty to tickle the eyes as well as the ears.
The show kicks off at 10pm, we're asking $7, and The Note is located at 1565 N Milwaukee Ave in Wicker Park.

The Slingerland Ride live at Double Door!!!!
That's right folks, the show that everyone has been waiting for!
The Slingerland Ride over the last two years has graced the stages of such premiere local venues such as Quencher's, Empty Bottle, Darkroom, Subterranean and Gunther Murphy's and some of you have seen them all, but you have never seen us like this when we hit the stage at...dare I say....Double Door!
That's right, you heard it hear first and we are pulling out all the stops playing an energetic set of tunes you know and love including a brand new cover tune and for the first time joined by Mike and Alan of The Bitter Tears as the brass section rounding out a sound that will amaze and astound you! You can't miss this one as it will be the hottest show in town that night, even The White Stripes would show up if they weren't stuck playing at the Auditorium Theatre that night.
An amazing show on an amazing bill with The Thin Man, The Bitter Tears, and headlining that evening will be Pat MacDonald of Timbuk3 (you remember "The Future's So Bright...I Gotta Wear Shades"?) with a solo act that you won't believe is just one man! Doors open at 9pm and the show starts at 9:30 sharp...don't be late!!!
If you don't think that this will be one of the best shows you have ever seen in your life, then don't take our word for it...just check out this review on our limited edition self-titled debut EP. All you have to do is cut and paste this link into your favorite web browser http://indieworkshop.com/music/1902/
And if that's not enough, there's still more!!! Listen and download The Slingerland Ride tunes from our website (www.theslingerlandride.com) or check us out on MySpace (www.myspace.com/theslingerlandride) to get exclusive tunes that aren't available anywhere else! See you two weeks from now on Tuesday August 30th.
Yours Truly,

In addition, the group has a new lineup for 2004 featuring keyboardist TJ Widner, bassist Jason Hinkle, drummer Dan Gottesman, and turntablist DJ Form.

The Voodoo Organist
One of MK Magazine's favorite comntempory artists willl be playing Chicago on Friday April 22 at the Exit 1315 W. North Ave. Chicago www.exitchicago.com
The Voodoo Organist (Scott Wexton) is touring the states in support of his third CD, “Holy Ghost Town,” was released February 15, 2005 on his newly renamed label, Voodoo Man Music, and is again being distributed by Dead Teenager Records.
It’s his most potent album to date, with 13 tracks that samba and slither through a decadent palette of musical styles. Using a whiskey-soaked growl, a vintage organ with bass pedals, a theremin and various rhythm devices, Wexton tells tales of sin and temptation, drugs and debauchery, murderous stalkers and lonesome highways; and through it all you will want to dance like the Devil.

Andrew Bird Record Release Show!
Chicago Record Release & Live Show @ The Metro
for "The Mysterious Production of Eggs"
Advance tickets available at Hi Fi Records for no surcharge.
w/ Archer Prewitt and Clyde Federal
"As one of the most talented artists of this generation...
This show cannot be missed." - HoneyWired
Mr. Bird releases his first studio album in nearly two years, The Mysterious Production of Eggs, on Righteous Babe Records in the US and Fargo records in Europe. The album follows Weather Systems, his mini-LP, released in 2002 / 2003.
The recording sessions for Eggs saw Bird scrap the album three times and travel between studios in Chicago, Los Angeles and his own home studio on a farm in Northern Illinois. The album took final shape with the production help of David Boucher whose credits include Randy Newman and Paul Westerberg.
The record deals with nothing less than the mysteries of childhood, creativity and modern science - epic in scope and minute in detail. It is accompanied by artwork and illustrations for every song by accomplished Chicago based artist Jay Ryan. Equally unusual is Bird’s solo live show at which, with the aid of a sampling pedal, the songwriter takes his often dense, orchestrated recordings and rewrites them anew each night, adding layers of fiddle, electric guitar, and glockenspiel to his vocals and whistling. Bird has toured extensively over the past year throughout the US and Europe with kindred spirits the Magnetic Fields, My Morning Jacket, Lambchop and Ani DiFranco.
Click here for a Q&A session with Mr. Bird about the new album.
